This site lists a selection of useful websites dealing with mangrove ecosystems.
Marine Sciences
This site provides marine educational links aimed from K-12 level. Learn about various marine ecosystems from mangroves to the deep sea.
Mount St. Helens
The eruption of Mt St. Helens had a large effect on the environment, approximately 68,000 acres of trees damaged or destroyed. To monitor recovery a large part of the park was set aside for scientific study, and scientists have determined that the area has not followed the classic ecological theories about succession.
On-line Expeditions
The University of Delaware hosts this site which contains articles and information on a range of exploratory deep sea diving missions, conducted by the scientists of that institution.
Racerocks.com Educational Index

Vegetation map checklist
From here you can select your country of interest to obtain current maps showing distributions of different vegetation types.
What is an Ecosystem?
What is a Biome? What is an Ecosystem? How have humans affected the ecosystems? These are some of the questions discussed on this Thinkquest webpage.

Environmental monitoring

Amphibian Monitoring Program
Frogs and other amphibians are vanishing and no one knows why.  Take a look at the various monitoring programs under way to determine the decline in frogs and salamanders.
Environmental Protection Agency
An Australian website (Queensland). Explore a range of issues such as monitoring waste, air and water. As well as coastal and wildlife conservation. There are many pdf leaflets available for download.

Remote Sensing and Monitoring
This site looks at how and why using satellites images are important in detecting changes in land conditions over time.

Populations and Communities

Communities
This website provides lecture notes on communities, includes niche concept, species interactions (mutualism, commensalism, competition, predation, parasitism), community stability and change.
Competition
A look at intra- and interspecific competition used by plants for obtaining water, and for root distribution.
